MA Professional & Commercial Dance

Designed to give the student the edge to succeed in the fast moving and dynamic dance sector, this unique Professional and Commercial Dance MA is an innovative and challenging programme that offers you the opportunity to advance and refine your technical, creative and performance practice through the creation of an exciting and pioneering professional and commercial dance graduate company.

Fusing the traditional techniques of Contemporary, Jazz, Ballet, Street and Hip-Hop styles within the context of commercial and professional dance, enabling you to create a range of performance opportunities at a professional level. The programme also nurtures and allows you to explore and refine your unique choreographic identity and artistic voice to support your professional development, alongside equipping students with wider skills surrounding entrepreneurship and creative planning to enable learners to sustain a diverse career within the dance sector.

Alongside intensive dance and creative practice students will also be challenged to analyse the professional and commercial dance arena and the contextual factors that influence it, whilst reflecting upon their own development, practice and creative identity.

Studying and training in purpose-built, high-specification dance and performing arts studios, delivered by a combination of Shockout Arts professionals alongside industry specialists from various fields within the sector.

This programme will provide you with real-world experience of professional company ethos and practices which will advance your development and cultivate creative strategies in order to enhance your professional practice and ensure career longevity within the ever-evolving professional and commercial dance industry.

Requirements

  • All applicants will be required to undertake an audition and interview process.
  • Applicants are normally required to have a 2:1 undergraduate classification.
  • Applications from mature students without the required entry qualifications will be considered
  • Alternative qualifications and/or professional industry experience may be considered.
  • If English is not your first language you will need to complete a Secure English Language Test at IELTS 6.0 or equivalent.

All lessons take place at Studio 25 Manchester City Centre, Manchester, M4 1PE. The Campus is located on Church Street where we have eight industry standard studios.
