The City of Manchester

Studying in Manchester

Manchester is a top choice for students: it ranks 29th in the QS Best Student Cities 2019 and 24th on the year before. It is home to a diverse set of people from all walks of life, making this city an interesting one–day or night. Manchester’s welcoming and unique atmosphere celebrates and inspires the arts, culture, music, theatre, and so much more.

It is a busy yet friendly city that has a thriving music and nightlife scene. Many bars and clubs are scattered across the city centre. Whether you’re up for a chill evening with some live music or ready to dance the night away, there’s a place for you. Manchester also has a rich history with music, producing many internationally and locally successful artists. The city also hosts various festivals throughout the year such as the Manchester International Festival and Parklife.

There are many places in the city for you to explore. The Northern Quarter in the city centre is where you can find many independent cafes, bars and boutiques, each with their own character that give this area a lively and quirky vibe. You can easily head to Market Street and Exchange Square nearby to shop high street and designer brands. Cultivate your mind and draw inspiration from the many museums and art galleries you can visit in the city. Performances are also regularly showcased in the many theatres here, like the Palace Theatre and HOME to name a few.

You will be spoilt for choice with Manchester’s selection of food and drinks to accommodate your budget. The diversity of cultures calling Manchester home has given rise to many restaurants, markets and shops to satisfy your cravings. Some notable areas are Chinatown within the centre and the Curry Mile at Rusholme.

These are just some of the activities you can do and places you can go to in this beautiful city. What’s great is that travelling around Manchester is easy and convenient. We’re sure that your time with Shockout will be an eventful one, both in and outside the studio, and we will leave the rest of discovering Manchester up to you!
